Sustainability will be the only way to do fashion in the future. 3 days/15 hour course Trashion Project, students will be challenged to think about how they can craft a handbag design concept and collection that is both sustainable and circular. You will learn Basic handbag shapes and constructions while developing your own design aesthetic. Design and build out a merchandised handbag line to go to the marketplace, pattern making and construction skills. At the end of the course, students will present their design concepts & finished handbag for critique from sustainable industry designers!

MARINA SAVERESE
Born in Sorrento and raised in Livorno, I live between Florence, Livorno and Ibiza. Graduated in 2001 in Fashion Design at Polimoda, In over 15 years of working experience I’ve followed my passion for the world of fashion and communication at 360°, organizing events and exhibitions, opening the first temporary stores and participating in markets dedicated to design. I’m the artistic director and founder of Pygiama&Superstar, my collection of street-a-porter and Sartoria Letteraria, my latest creative project about slow fashion and writing art, upcycling and sustainability. Alternative, ethical and sustainable fashion are my objects of study and work in the last 10 years, around which one I follow and develop creative projects (Sfashion-Net, a network dedicated to slow fashion independent designer, and W(e)ave Mag, a magazine dedicated to slow lifestyle). Since 2010 I am a Visual Merchandiser lecture at Polimoda in Florence, Collection Design and Trend Forecasting at Marangoni in Florence (2016) and Window Display Design, Social Media for Fashion, Computer Graphic for Fashion at the GSC in Amman (Jordan, from 2012) . I’ve published two books on the art of seduction “La bruttina che conquista“, 2012 and “Come tenersi un uomo dopo averlo conquistato“, 2013, an essay on the other side of fashion, “Sfashion” (Morellini, 2016), the guide “Firenze al Femminile” (Morellini, 2017) and “Ibiza Low Cost” (Morellini, 2018). In my blog “I hate bananas” I mainly talk about sustainable fashion, the feminine universe and contemporaneity. Since 2013 I’ve been broadcasting live national radio tips on the frequencies of M2O radio (Gruppo L’Espresso) and Radio Capital. COURSE HERE

CASSANDRA KANE
Cassandra Kane is an independent designer and product development consultant living in Florence, Italy. She spent many years designing luxury, ready-to-wear, outerwear and evening-wear for designer brands in New York, including Dennis Basso, Elie Tahari and Zac Posen. She later moved to Italy to study the art of luxury handbag development at the storied Scuola Del Cuoio in Florence. Gaining a certification in leather craft, Cassandra worked as a prototipista, developing handbags for some of the world's most luxury brands including Tod’s and Dolce & Gabbana. Throughout this experience, she was also inspired to imagine more sustainable supply chain solutions within local luxury leather and textile production. Cassandra continues to partner with independent designers, creatives, brands and retailers to create elevated product with special expertise in luxury, outerwear, accessories and made in Italy. She has also recently launched the brand Sieme (@wearesieme), focused upon a model of Restorative Production. Through partnerships with local family owned manufacturers, Sieme creates designer products from repurposed luxury material waste and partners with local artisans to bring their products online to a wider international audience. Cassandra also works with A.S.P.R.I (Associazione per Pelle Recuperata in Italia) in Scandicci, an organization committed to developing and implementing circular production practices and fostering emerging designers in the local leather goods and accessories industry.

VINCENZO LODATO
One of the most respected global branding and marketing executives in the licensing and publishing industries with 20+ years of consumer products experience in apparel, accessories, footwear, toys, gifts, stationery, interactive games, publishing, fragrance, food, beverage and retail. Having studied and currently living in Europe and the United States, he brings a global perspective to all of the projects he manages and produces. Vincenzo has held executive positions at Universal Studios, Disney, Mattel, New Line Cinema, FAO Schwarz, GQ Magazine / Conde Nast Publications and IMG Worldwide. Throughout his many years in Licensing and Brand Marketing, Vincenzo has managed and developed successful brand strategies for properties such as: Barbie, The Lord Of the Rings, Jurassic Park, Mickey Mouse, Toy Story, Curious George, Harry Potter, Universal Studios Classics, GQ Magazine, and The Nutcracker with Martha Stewart. At Universal Studios , Vincenzo helped transform his division into a $1 billion retail business by creating innovative product and promotional launches for mass market, blockbuster licensing programs such as: Jurassic Park and ET, tailoring programs for children’s properties like Curious George, vintage television series and celebrity estate programs. Vincenzo also developed third party client programs including managing international creative product licensing for DreamWorks. While living in New York, Vincenzo became the Director of Creative Development and acted as Executive Producer for GQ Magazine / Conde Nast Publications, for the - “2003 GQ Man of the Year Awards” show with MTV / Spike TV hosted by Jon Stewart with celebrity guests that included The Black-Eyed Peas, Jay Z, Beyonce, Colin Farrell, Charlize Theron, Adrian Brody, and others. While at GQ Magazine, he developed marketing and special programs with many top luxury advertisers such as Prada, Gucci, Dolce and Gabbana, Mercedes-Benz, Hummer, David Yurman, L’Oreal, Revlon, and others. ILYSSA WEXLER
Ilyssa Wexler (Zacchei) Founder and CEO of Fashion4Futures, a native New Yorker and veteran entrepreneur, former Wall Street top females sales leader and million dollar round table qualifier 3 years in a row. International business, Economics and Business leadership teacher, Ilyssa has lived and worked all over the world including Sydney Australia for the Institute of Economics and Peace. Ilyssa leverages 20+ years of thriving business experiences to empower creatives in building their fashion careers with the business tools they need to succeed. Ilyssa earned her Bachelors degree in Business from University of Maryland College Park, Her Masters in Neurophysiology the study of brain behavior which she uses for language learning from Columbia University. She holds numerous certificates, the CELTA for ESL language learning, “Sustainable Fashion” from Copenhagen Business school, “Management of Fashion and Luxury Companies” from Bocconi University, and “Women in entrepreneurship” from Cornell University.
ROBERTA BEGLIOMINI
Roberta Begliomini is a Language Confidence Consultant & Founder of IELO(English – Portuguese -Italian)
Masters in European Studies & Graduate in International Relations.
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) and TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) certified.
She has been teaching English for the last 7 years for students from different nationalities and backgrounds. Having strong marketing, business and project management knowledge with over 14 years experience in the corporate sector. Able to develop individualized plans according to the necessities and skills of each student. Excellent communication and presentation skills, being able to explain difficult tasks to Italian, Spanish and Portuguese native speakers.


MARCELA SCHNEIDER FERREIRA
Marcela is an Italian-Brazilian photographer graduated in Architecture and Urban Planning.
Her previous experience as an architect, both in Brazil and Italy, have inspired her to develop her creative director skills to find the right mood, the best framing and composition when she takes pictures.
She shoots romantic sessions and lifestyle photography, destination weddings from all over the world. She works together with many fashion designers at the Milan Fashion Week and Pitti Uomo, the Florence menswear trade-show. She also works also for important luxury brands like Marriot hotels, in Florence at St Regis and Excelsior and in Trieste at Porto Piccolo Resort.
She has had the privilege to shoot and film a new lighting project made by ERCO in Ara Pacis museum in Rome and Cappella dei Principi museum in Florence and her work has been published on main architecture magazines in Italy.
She has worked for some of the best tailor-made perfume laboratories in Italy, like Sileno Cheloni, Scent Company and Aqua Flor.
Some of her works have been published in Vogue and Vanity Fair magazines. COURSE HERE
MARIA MICHELA MATTEI
Maria Michela Mattei is an Italian Fashion Professor, Tv journalist and Image consultant.
She obtained her Ph.D in visual semantics at the University of Siena, in 2012 with an innovative thesis about the relationship between heels and pedestals, combining visual communication studies , history of art and semantics of fashion. Since then she has been working in the fashion and communication system as a style consultant, educator and fashion researcher. During the last years she also got a Master in Digital Marketing, she attended several masterclass about dress code & etiquette and she earned a Diploma in Image Consulting and Personal Shopping, organized by ELLE education.
Her major areas of expertise are: history and tradition of Italian fashion houses, fashion &media, marketing and personal branding
She is currently Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, and CEO of her personal style consulting firm called “Signature Style Academy”.
